through the canals and tiny streets

One of the best holidays I have ever had - even though I say it every time I come back to the reality after my holidays - was the third time in city between tiny streets and canals - Amsterdam.

For the whole week there, we literally have been walking from one cafe to another to warm up with the cup of tea or hot chocolate as it was super cold, with the wind and the cold from the canals it was up to -7! The great part of these kind of holidays that you are allowed not to do anything, just walk around, enjoy the city to the fullest and take bunch of pictures!
Despite the weather, we did some cool free stuff (Amsterdam itself is pretty costly even comparing to London, the beer is super expensive and most places overcharge for a pint as they sell it in the small glasses), including the outdoors sightseeing and live music events. If you are planning to visit Amsterdam, there's a bunch of stuff you could do without spending too much:

  • Get lost in between the canals. It's completely worth it to wonder around without a map or clue where you are or where you are gonna go next. The views are pretty picturesque!
  • Free jazz on Tuesdays at Bimhuis. It's aroud 10 mins walk from the Centraal Station, within the cozy atmosphere you can enjoy free jazz sounds!
  • Cup of tea on top of the Science Museum. This cafe was the cheapest one we have found in the whole city with the most amazing view through the windows as the museum itself is pretty high building.
  • The 15 bridges. You can literally stand on one bridge and count other 14 bridges in the scenary. Pretty cool! Even though you can't see them in terms of the weather, the view is amazing!
  • Jordaan area was the pretties one to wonder around through those tiny canals within the scenary of Dutch Architecture!
There are many more things to do, just I picked up my favourite ones. The musuems there, as our private 'tourist guude' said, are pretty amazing. For example, you could go with someone else to the diamond museum, pay up to 20 and in the end of the tour enjoy a 'free' glass of champagne. The secret is that in one of them they will put a real diamond! Pretty cool, hah? :}
